President Jimmy Carter Turns 100 Today!

President Jimmy Carter, born James Earl Carter, Jr. on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia has reached the ripe old age of 100 today!

From January 20, 1977 – January 20, 1981, Jimmy Carter served as our 39th president, succeeding President Gerald Ford and preceding President Ronald Reagan.

Before his presidency, Carter was the 76th governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975 and before that, state senator from 1963 to 1967 as a representative of the Democratic Party.

His most notable achievements during his term include:

• Camp David Accords (1978)
• Creation of the Department of Energy (1977)
• Panama Canal Treaties (1977)
• Advancement of Human Rights
• Establishment of the Department of Education (1979)
• Expansion of National Parks
• Normalization of Relations with China (1979)
• Iran Hostage Crisis Negotiation (1981)
• Nobel Peace Prize (2002)

His efforts beyond his one-term presidency have long since continued until this very day, but I will always remember and honor him for founding the Carter Center to advance human rights, conflict resolution and alleviate human suffering; his continuous fight for civil rights; and his unapologetic love for and service of my Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

I just wanted to take this moment to say, “Thank you, President Carter and Happy 100th Birthday. God bless you.”
