Let The Music Play…

What is your favorite hobby or pastime?

Not a single soul in my personal, professional and social media circles would shrug their shoulders if you asked them what my favorite pastime was/is. Some would assume it’s spending time with family, which is a given. Yes, I live for that. But as far as a “hobby” goes…

It’s music.

I write it, I play it, I listen to it, I live and breathe it. But those are stories I’ve told many times since I started blogging back in 2019.

I love music. Correction, I’m IN love with music. In fact, when someone once asked, “Of the 5 human senses, which could you absolutely not afford to lose?” I told them my sense of hearing. Just the thought of not hearing a child’s laughter or the song a forehead makes when it “KONNNNNGS” into a hollow pole – lol. I’m sorry. Strange, but true.

But most of all, the thought of never hearing music, and I mean real music, would kill me.

So, what is my hobby/pastime? It’s sitting back in some scenic location, listening to all the different instruments, expertly interwoven in my music. Whether it’s classical, jazz, blues, R&B, etc, I’m breaking down each track like a math student and appreciating it for what it is.

Especially my Earth, Wind & Fire. And don’t let me get started on how much of a masterpiece their song “September” is. (Here is my write-up about it.)

If I’m not somewhere where I can enjoy my surroundings, I’m on my couch or in bed, Beats By Dre headphones (I can’t do pods) firmly in place, allowing it to take me away to a different time and place.

What am I listening to now? “Softly As In A Morning Sunrise” from The Modern Jazz Quartet’s 1974 concert double-album, “The Last Concert”.

…while watching college football.

Hey, I don’t miss my football…
