What principles define how you live?
Kansas City, Missouri 2003
The look on everyone’s faces was epic. No one in the surrounding audience was ready for my 6-man group to perform an impromptu version of the California Raisins singing “I Heard It Through The Grapevine”, complete with backup singing and choreography. Mind you, this group was comprised of executive managers from various branches of our corporation, none of which, were sure about dancing in front of others.
It was a corporate convention and retreat, chock full o’ training, meetings and team building exercises. Of course, when we broke off into the many teams to create a concept, explanation and story to illustrate our idea; and when I was selected as team leader; I warned them we were going to do something unforgettable. All it took was to convince my unsuspecting teammates to get out of their comfort zones and join along…

Before the trip was over, I was awarded the Corporate Armadillo Award for team leadership and creativity. Not something I even knew existed, but it was wonderful to receive…
I’ve always loved the title and song, “Something To Talk About”, as in ‘let’s give them something to talk about’. And it has always been evident in my practices and lifestyle. I mean, why get caught with your hand in the cookie jar when you can just walk down the street with it under your arms, eating and sharing the cookies with whomever you please?
Life is short. Play hard.
Over the years, I’ve always felt that if you can’t enjoy it, it’s not worth doing. Now that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t do it if I couldn’t enjoy it. On the contrary, if I had to do it, I would make it enjoyable for myself, and others. Make sense?
If I had a speech to prepare in class, I made sure that it stood out, leaving you either wanting more or eagerly anticipating my next appearance. If I was asked to prepare a meal, it had to be unique, delicious, and addictive. If I was asked to participate in something, I had to be a stand out performer.
I know that could be interpreted as me being an (excuse the expression) “attention whore” and yes, I did like having all eyes on me on many occasions. But what I wanted to be was someone who always gave you more than what you bargained for. I wanted to give you something you’d never heard of, seen or even considered before.
…if nothing else, something to talk about…

My father always wanted his kids to have that mentality that we weren’t better than anyone else, nor were we any worse. But we knew they had never seen a show like ours. Because we dared to be different.
So, without going off on a tangent, my life is defined by my desire to give you your money’s worth. Even in something as simple as a blog post. I believe that if you’re going to invest your time and attention to reading my work, it should darn well be worth your time.
That’s why I don’t focus on any one niche. My blog caters to almost all audiences with humorous tales/memories, listicles, recipes, photography, practical jokes, commentaries, movie/music reviews, etc.
I don’t have to have a statue or retired jersey anywhere. I just want the people in my life to sit back and smile as they tell their great-grandchildren, “I remember this one time, there was a guy named Kenny Davis…”

Life is short, baby. Play hard…
