Today is National Quitter’s Day, the second Friday of the year. This is the day that statistically most people give up on their resolutions or goals.
Wait, only after two weeks? Is that all they think of us? They’re saying we won’t make it two doggone weeks!
Not you!
You set your goals for a reason. You’re on your journey because things have to change! Don’t stop now!
Some of you have chosen to give up smoking, drinking, procrastination, binge-watching TV shows (I need to write an article about that – whoops, I already did!), late-night partying, etc. Whatever your goal, now is not the time to give up!
Some of you made an actual plan for success.
(Remember: Fail to plan, plan to fail.)
Goal: Lose 50 lbs by December 31!
- Workout 6 days/week. Step aerobics 3x/week. Stretch daily.
- Eat sensibly with portion control. 10+ glasses of water daily.
- Eat more vegetables and fruits. Preferably 3 portions of each daily.
- Avoid eating after 7 p.m. (8 p.m. is the absolute cut-off).
- Avoid pop, sugar, fried and fast foods. Reduce “white” foods (flour-based, rice, potatoes, etc.)
- Walk 10,000+ steps per day (verify with a pedometer).
- Track vital stats daily with a BP monitor and Blood Glucose Testing.
Wow! See what I just did? I didn’t say I was going to lose weight, I set a GOAL weight and what exactly I need to do to achieve it. This way, I can track exactly what I do each day and quantify my procedure, results, and successes. You can even find software programs and phone apps to do the work FOR you.

For many, specifying what it takes to get there is paramount.
But no matter what the method, don’t quit. Please. I’m sure that whatever it is you chose to do, it’s for the betterment of all, so stick to it. That’s all I’m saying. If you have a support base, let them know your plans and your struggles. Sometimes you need someone to help hold you accountable. You do whatever it takes to get you to that finish line!
Don’t forget to celebrate your progress along the way. Little victories inspire you to finish and win the war!!
Yes, I know there might be setbacks. But if you’re there, get it back together. You messed up. Get over it and get back IN it. Don’t dwell on what went wrong, just identify it and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

But jeez, DON’T QUIT!!!
This is just a short reminder that you CAN do it. They believe in you. We believe in you. I believe in you.
You just need to believe in yourself.

Trust me, you’ll get there.
