Cookie Capers (Ep. 107): Celebrating Earth, Wind & Fire Day With My Two Favorite Elements (Gi & Ka)!

September 21st has rolled around, and you already know what that means — Earth, Wind & Fire Day!

As always, I start it off by playing and singing “September,” then let the rest of the day flow with the timeless music of Earth, Wind & Fire, Maurice White, and Philip Bailey. It’s a tradition that never gets old.

And yes, while I’m celebrating the music, I’m sneaking in my football time too. Balance is everything, and my Chicago Bears need some serious support and improvement.

But the real joy of the day isn’t just the music or the memories — it’s knowing I’ve passed this tradition down to my sons, and now I get to share it with their children. That’s the sweet part of being a grandfather. It’s a joy to be “Gwampa”, it’s a blessing to live long enough to be “RoboPopPop.”

And it’s absolute heaven, watching, hearing, chasing, and kissing Gianna Rose (my warm little peanut butter cookie) and Kamari Michael “Cheeseburger Jones” (my little oatmeal raisin cookie) — God’s greatest gifts.

I don’t have much to say other than the fact that this day takes on a whole new meaning now that they’re here with me.

This day takes on a whole new meaning now that they’re here with me. Because since they’ve come around, just like Earth, Wind & Fire promised, “never was a cloudy day.” And with my grandbeauties in my loving arms, “golden dreams really are shiny days…”

My two favorite elements on this earth: Gianium (Gi) and Kamarium (Ka)…

Happy Earth, Wind & Fire Day!
