Some folks mark holidays with cards, cake, or fireworks.
I’m marking this one with a keyboard.
Today is National Blogger Day, and while I nearly missed it, I’d be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to pause, reflect, and say thank you.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for commenting. Thank you for laughing with me. Crying with me. Growing with me.
To date, my little corner of the internet—this place I call home—has been visited by readers from over 160 countries. I’ve written 443 (including this one) blog entries, and yet I still feel like I’m just getting started.
Sometimes I wonder if I started too late (2018). If the words came to me after the knees gave out, after the camera got heavier, after the mirror began showing me more of my father’s face than my own. But then I remember something far more important:
It’s not when you start that matters.
It’s that you did.
Because every story I’ve written came from a life fully lived—painfully, hilariously, imperfectly lived. And whether I’ve shared memories from my childhood, love notes to my parents, awkward moments with my friends, pranks gone wrong, or heartfelt reflections about slavery, legacy, and life… they’re mine. And now they belong to you too.
So today, on Blogger’s Day, I salute all the writers out there. The ones who stay up past midnight with a half-finished sentence. The ones brave enough to hit “publish.” The ones who pour themselves into digital bottles and send them out to sea, hoping someone, somewhere, will read—and feel a little less alone.
Writing a blog isn’t just storytelling. It’s time travel. It’s therapy. It’s connection.
It’s legacy.
So here’s to us. All of us. Especially those of us who started late, but showed up anyway.

We’re still here. Still writing. Still dreaming.
And if you’re reading this, you’re part of that legacy too.
Happy National Blogger Day!

Happy National Blogger Day and congratulations on seven years of stories and sharing. I’m glad that you realize that It’s not when you start that matters. It’s that you did. I waited a long time for you to do this and it was worth the wait. I can’t wait to see what you do next. Love, Tonya

Tonya, you know that if you hadn’t kept at me all of those years when I was putting short stories in FB notes, I would never have been curious about it.
True, I should have started much sooner than 2018, but I’m thankful that you never gave up.
Thank you for always being there, going on 40 years. Love you and thanks so much for reading!
