Today would have been the 70th birthday of the great Luther Vandross, who possessed the most incredible singing voice I felt that God could give a man.
I’m not ashamed to say that when I listen to him, I sway back and forth, totally mesmerized, mystified, side by side with any woman. But my reaction doesn’t come with me clutching my heart and gazing into his eyes. Mine are closed, lost in disbelief that such a sound can be produced by the human body in conjunction with the fact that he is gone.
Still, his music lives on and I’m gonna share it with you over the course of two nights.
